writes that this is noted for being a variable species. Whether that is actual morpho variability, or simply a lack of genetic investigation is up for grabs, as always.
Looking at all the MO observations including yours from Alaska, I am struck by the differences in the pictures. It is not a species that I know. Your photo looks a bit like Pholiota angustipes which also often appears to be terrestrial.
