Observation 59218: Cortinarius (Pers.) Gray

When: 2010-09-26

Collection location: Thoiry, France [Click for map]

Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)

Specimen available

Found under oak, beech, fir.

Non-viscid cap and stipe, cap brown, stipe light brown, veil off-white to tan, gills light brown, no odor. No reactions to KOH.

micro-shot is of the veil at 1000x in KOH. Spores ellipsoid, rounded, warted, brown. Apr. size is 9 × 6 um.

Looked through the keys in Funga Nordica, and Champions du Suisse tome 5, and got nothing to match these (or if you look at it another way, matches way too much). Like I said before, I should know better trying anything with a Telamonia… but I thought I might give a couple a try. I’m probably going to stop, and skip over Telamonia from now on.
