These were more likely under firs or redwoods. Pines are pretty unlikely. It was 5 years ago so I don’t recall specifically. Yesterday we were on our way back to Grizzly Creek Redwoods SP to do some more photography when we were in an auto accident. We’re both fine, but I’m not so sure about our “go to the woods” car.

It would be good to have a better photo of the gills, they kinda look marginate (edges are colored). Were these growing under pines?

It reminds me of Mycena renati (a European species). I’m not sure about similar species in California though.
