Observation 59588: Cladonia grayi G. Merr. ex Sandst.

When: 2010-11-07

Collection location: Dabney Creek, Madison Co., Arkansas, USA [Click for map]

Who: Jason Hollinger (jason)

Specimen available

abundant on sandstone outcrops

These large colonies were invariably apodetiate, forcing me to guess. Surprisingly, it actually keys out in the apodetiate group under Cladonia in the Harris & Ladd keys. To be sure I would presumably need to verify the presence of grayanic acid via TLC.
