Specimen available

This interesting little fungus was collected both in Oakland on the 10th, and in Santa Cruz on the 11th. It was photographed on the 13th.

It had a moveable ring, and was initially thought to be a Pholiotina, prior to sporedrop.

Any id suggestions? Doug Smith has the specimen.

This is a real distinctive species that can be pretty easily recognized by sight, I see it every year in Santa Cruz: http://www.mykoweb.com/...
