Small Mushrooms

I just wanted to add that these mushrooms were rather smallish – caps just over an inch for the biggest specimen. Also, while obviously a saprophyte, these guys were growing in the wood debris rather than right on the dead logs.

Will do better next time

Until I started putting my photos on MO, I didn’t know IDing would be that difficult without other clues. I thought if I got fresh specimen, photo cap, stem and gills, it would be piece of cake. Now I know otherwise and gear to pick smaples and get spores next year. Meanwhile, I’m stuck with dozens of species I can’t identify…
I’m used to identifying insects, and you can usually narrow them down to genus using visual clues (except for the tiny ones where you need microscope anyways)

do you have

any more info about these? Spore color at least? Taste/odor/texture.

Nothing comes to mind off the top of my head…

Genus, anybody?

I’m not sure you can call species Entolomataceae sp. That naming convention is reserved for Genus sp., while Entolomataceae is a family. I wonder if anyone can narrow it down to genus.

Not sure what to say
