Found under live oak, madrone, valley oak.

Unknown Hygrocybe, not quite like others I’ve seen, given the amount of parsing done with small red Hygrocybes. Only lightly viscid on cap, not on stipe. Colors non-changing as slowly drying. Too small for H. punicea (sensu. Cali.), not orange and hygrophanous like H. minata, not umbonate and conical like other small red Hygrocybe. Mild taste here, so not H. reaia (sp?), which was reported once from California, although it is more of an east-coast species…
