Recognized by sight: fruticose habit, flattened but apparently no different on the two sides, soredia along marginal fissures on some and maybe in flaps at tips on others, there appear to be conspicuous pseudocyphellae on many as well

I was wondering why these looked “wrong”. I’d have to guess this beautiful colony of lichens is made of one to a few species of Ramalina, although I wouldn’t rule out Evernia completely, either. If it were California I might guess R. farinacea, R. subleptocarpha, and R. pollinaria. All three might also be found in parts of Russia. But there is definitely something in there that’s too thick, a bit like Evernia prunastri.
