ID changed to Hymenoscyphus sp.

We made a change already in the 2008/2009 Observatory Hill report to Hymenoscyphus sp., but the UBC herbarium specimen is still listed as Hymenoscyphus albidus. Cudoniella would not show I+ staining.
Mushroom Observer Rules Of Naming do not allow “sp.” in the Observation Name, That’s a pity, since in the normal herbarium convention “sp.” behind the genus name implies that some ID effort has been made, whereas Hymenoscyphus without “sp.” is used just for sorting specimens for further processing. At least that was a convention in all the herbaria I have worked in. Adolf

Cudoniella clavus

The macro looks like Cudoniella clavus but the spores are too large. Surely not Hymenoscyphus albidus which is confined to Fraxinus.
