M. plicatulus has a very velvety cap which this photo doesn’t really show. The coloring of the cap is off too.

of M. plicatulus based on the MO occurrence map restricts it to the western US and Canada. I’d venture to guess its overall reported distribution is something similar, or at least nothing as far south as Costa Rica. IDing this to species on a single macro photo alone is a gamble, but I’d at least rule out M. plicatulus on that basis, plus the lack of a darker, purpler cap and darker stem.
