Observation 66606: Amanita sect. Validae (Fr.) Singer

When: 2011-04-29

Collection location: Calhoun Co., Alabama, USA [Click for map]

Who: Joshua Garrard (sherabdorjee)

No specimen available

Notes:
Lack of appendiculate material on cap, non-striate margin, however bearing a distinctive ring, pulverulent smear on base (terminology deferred – see photos). Spore print white. KOH unavailable. Particularly noteworthy is the very pulverulent to saccate base, destroyed in-part due to being unprepared, though many a bulb has survived my method of digging around the base with a finger when no pocketknife is on hand, as well as the citrine coloration of the stipe and ring.

Suggest Tulloss’ input may be of value.
