Observation 66777: Armillaria novae-zealandiae (G. Stev.) Boesew.

Light brown caps to 3.5cm Caps wet with rain. Several large groups in same area. Stems to about 6cm

I think this observation matches Armillaria novae-zelandiae quite well, but I’m not familiar enough with the other Australian species of Armillaria to offer any certainty.

Although the name would suggest a New Zealand distribution it is well documented to occur in Australia as well. The name is in reference to the type locality rather than the species distribution.

TimmiT, Had a good look through all the images I could research and not sure enough to fully accept the NZ naming. I know NZ has a lot of similar, but not always the same species as us in Oz. Thanks for the info site. I have used NZ sites a couple of times as their info is very good and up to date.
