it’s probably not a xylariacae.
Isaria seems like a good guess to me. It seemed to be growing from clay soil in a root mass, originally I didn’t see an insect, although I just looked at it again and there may be part of an insect there.
two pix at 20x, looks like some sort of insect shell there, but it’s hard to tell.
