A good year to find this interesting and distinctive Cystoderma; in fact, it’s been a good season for Cystodermas in general! This was collected with Ben Wolf at his Tomales Bay study site, where we met so that I could show him some of the mushrooms in Marin that WEREN’T phalloides or other amanitas; this was the “best of show” for the day.
Currently in my personal herbarium; will eventually reside in the SFSU herbarium.

Oh, I found some of these while hiking around at the Pt. Reyes fair. They seemed curious to me, though I didn’t know what they were. I thought I had tossed them, but I just checked the pile of assorted dried mushrooms on my desk (…) and they are still there. Are they uncommon enough to be worth saving?
