Recognized by sight: Have found once at another location in Clark County, Washington. I found a total of perhaps 30 sporocarps, along with Dennis and Norene Wedam. This is a very small to minute Tuber, often pubescent on the peridium, with soil particles adherring; peridium looks dark reddish as maturing, but ashy-colored in maturity; gleba with very dark, nearly black gleba; almost invariably less than 1 inch in diameter; subglobose, rather rare locally.
