Partial veil

It seems as though there is a partial veil at the top of the stem also.

This doesn’t entirely exclude Russula as a possibility because there are russulas with partial veil; however, they are not at all common. I don’t know if any such russulas occur in Australia. I’m pretty sure they have been reported from Mexico and east Africa…at least. Can someone help on this point?

She described it as an Amanita and was able to get it to open in a moist chamber. It also seems to me to have had a membranous universal veil in the upper of the two images.

If I understand correctly, Lucy, I think you ought to propose the name Amanita sp.

It looks like maybe the base of the stem is missing from the second picture.
