Observation 67953: Phallus impudicus L.
When: 2011-05-22
Collection location: Rock Island State Park, Warren Co., Tennessee, USA [Click for map]
No specimen available
Notes:
“egg” is 8cm long x 6cm wide, weighs 170g, found half-embedded in rotting tree stump in mixed forest. Having never seen one before, I took it home, thinking it was some kind of puffball. Cutting it open was definitely a WTF moment!
