Observation 69818: Opegrapha atra Pers.

When: 2011-06-18

Collection location: Lourinhã, Portugal [Click for map]

Who: zaca

No specimen available

Notes:
As is known the attempt to identify a lirellae by photograph can result in a big failure. However, I would draw attention to the description and the photographs in Irish lichens, which together with the shape of the spores gives a dead match for the species Opegrapha atra. The dimensions of the spores and asci observed – in average Me = 15.8 × 4.2 µm (N=36) and Me = 40.5 × 11.6 µm (N=10), respectively, also agree with those given in CNALH for this species. In picasaweb a photo of the microscopy is presented, where the hypohymenium with black layer is visible, and agree with my observations.
