Growing annually under white oak and a rose bush. Stipe slowly bruises a brown color with a purple tinge.


The bruising can be observed on the stipe of this specimen.

Recognized by sight: The morphology is similar to that of B. variipes, but the Summer fruiting season, annual recurrence in the same exact spot, associated host, brown bruising a fair period of after handling, and reticulation being primarily concentrated at the apex all make me lean toward this comparison.
