okay, so you are going with M. sumstenii…you must admit that the underside near the top of the petal is ALSO something that doesnt look right for the black stainer. So we are somewhere inbetween. Are you judging this somewhat by time of year?
Thats why I dont vote against what she notices.

She may be way over in Sweden but she knows our mushrooms better then most of us…

I was willing to venture that this was Meripilus, but not enough to go against Irene. I know shes all the way over in Sweeden, and Chaz is in LA…

It looks like Grifola frondosa but Im not sure when they come out in your area.But it really doesent look thin enough to be Trametes versicolor.

How big is it??
