to Scleroderma bovista. Has very few rhizomorphs attaching it to the soil; relatively thin peridium (for a Scleroderma), a nearly globose form, and what appears to be a separate inner shell from the peridium. Should you collect this in the future, slicing it through the base with a razor would assist identification.
