that i’m rather low on the totem pole around here. i bill myself as a parataxonomist at best, rough sorting, that sort of thing. the mycota i’m most familiar with is that of the neotropics, and even in that area my understanding is very superficial, just getting off the ground.

E. moongum looks plausible, though most images I’m finding show a more slender, bluer stipe, more Leptonia-like.

Wow myxomop, if YOU’RE stumped, then this is going to be tough.

Just doing a bit of frenzied research, and wondering now if it could it be Entoloma moongum. Indigo cap, pinkish gills, grows in soil, indigenous to SE Australia…fits all of these criteria.

I saw this mushroom last year…I’ll return to the site at some point and nose around for another specimen, then try and gather a few more clues – including a spore print.
