The B-R-B description

for B. inedulis states that the stipe is “…staining blackish-brown near the base when handled; reticulate, at least on the upper portion”. Some brownish stains on the base can be clearly seen from the pics, but I can see what appears to be some faint blue areas on the stipe that are not mentioned in the description. Also, I cannot tell from the pictures if there is any reticulation on the upper portion of the stipe (too blurry) — frankly, to me it looks rather smooth. Perhaps the cap of this specimen is being selectively hypomicized, giving it a grayish color and making it look like B. inedulis. Thus my confidence level is only “promising” at best.
