Observation 74664: Tubifera ferruginosa (Batsch) Gmelin

When: 2011-08-26

Collection location: Mount Barker, South Australia, Australia [Click for map]

Who: Kari (Kari)

No specimen available

Notes:
I spotted this fungus last week, growing on an old pine log on my property. I had never seen anything like it before – I was particularly astounded by the bright bubble-gum pink colour. At first I thought this might have been a slime mould, but thanks to TimmiT’s recent observation on this forum of something almost identical, I am now (tentatively) able to identify it.

Just doing a bit of reading up on T. ferruginosa – chuffed to discover this is a slime mould after all. It’s also known as Red Raspberry Slime Mould.
