Who: Roy Halling (royh)

Specimen available

Notes:
Widely scattered under oak. This taxon occurs in the NYBG, but I have not seen it since 1989. The stature of this bolete is as described, imaged and outlined by Smith & Thiers, Boletes of Michigan and Ernst Both’s Compendium, p. 162, paragraph 4 in which he quotes notes by A.H. Smith lodged with the Lectotype: “These three are the yellow, wide-pored, narrow-stiped ones I select as lectotype.”
Herbarium specimen in NY (REH9603).
