Observation 75202: Clavulina J. Schröt.

When: 2011-08-28

Collection location: Hardscrabble Mountain, Eagle Co., Colorado, USA [Click for map]

Who: Danny Newman (myxomop)

No specimen available

Gregarious but solitary, growing in needle-rich soil. None bigger than this one, and only a slight yellowing in some older tufts. They had the look of a coral that would have grown to maturity but were stunted by a dry spell. The frayed tips suggest Clavulina to me.

Found in mixed conifer forest (Lodgepole Pine, Spruce, Fir) at ~9500 ft.

Collected for the 4th Annual Eagle Mushroom Festival
