Who: Ian Dodd (kk) (www.kundabungkid.com) Australia (kundabungkid)
Notes:
This fungi was photographed during a long period of drought where many elkhorns were falling from the tree tops. Fill flash was used (macro flash), but the colours are true to the fungi, when viewed by eye in normal light. Bruce Fuhrer has an image in his reference book ( A Field Guide to Australian Fungi) but the image I have taken is more fruitful (if that explains the comparison.eg more risers with no branching at the tops.).First image was taken on ground level and second was taken on moss covered hill area in the same vicinity. There were about five groups of the fungi in a fairly close proximity. I must express that the colour of image in Bruce’s reference is leaning towards yellow , where this image is definately orange coloured and appeared to be muture.
