Observation 7939: Phallus hadriani Vent.

When: 2008-06-15

Collection location: Pepperwood Preserve, Santa Rosa, California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Debbie Drechsler (debdrex)

No specimen available

My neighbors promised that, sooner or later, I’d be able to see one of these in their garden and today I did. Distinctive fragrance of mushroom and something rotten. Stipe feels like styrofoam and snaps easily. It’s hollow and the inside walls are coated with a clear version of the smelly slime on the pileus. Pileus 6cm, stipe 21.5cm.
