Observation 79589: Lyophyllum infumatum (Bres.) Kühner

When: 2011-10-13

Collection location: Highway 120 maybe 10 miles east of Crane Flat, Yosemite National Park, Tuolumne Co., California, USA [Click for map]

37.81703° -119.71259°

Who: Tom Bruns (pogon)

Specimen available

The spores fit nicely, although my images of them are crumby and not in the right view. The european images here: http://www.stridvall.se/fungi/gallery/Lyophyllum/SV11_083
look very similar. However, this specimen had a distinct grassy odor though, that L. fumosum isn’t supposed to have. It’s probably something similar but not identical to fumosum.

This was found in forest of Red Fir, at the top of the road bank.
