I do not have any other ideas. The specimen in this observation seems like a good macroscopic match based upon Holec’s description. The microscopy you provided is apparently useful for ruling out Gymnopilus penetrans. Is there a chance that you could post pileal or lamellar trama? Spore size and shape?

This is Gymnopilus sapineus (Fr.: Fr.) Maire sensu Kühner & Romagnesi, Moser, Ludwig, Breitenbach & Kränzlin, Horak

Do you have other ideas?
