Observation 8146: Scleroderma Pers.

I am pretty sure this is what is described as a PuffBall but again I cannot find the correct name. I have found images similar but not the same.

Recognized by sight: Would need to see the inside to be more positive, but several Scleroderma species have stalk-like structures, which are actually modified sterile bases. If Scleroderma (means “thick skin”) the outer portion should be several mm to 2 cm thick. The interior (gleba) could be any of a number of colors: yellowish; dark brown; purple; purple brown; solid or powdery. Since Sclerodermas are so widely mycorrhizal and found especially on waste or soils with almost no vegetation, it would be my guess
