but this book:

http://books.google.com/...

contains a section specifically on coprophilous Pyrenomycetes from New Zealand on pgs. 36-48.

The genera/species listed are:

Apiosordaria verruculosa
Arnium
Bombardiodea
Cercophora
Podospora
Chaetomium
Coniochaeta
Hypocopra
Melanospora
Poronia
Delitschia / Trichodelitchia
Sordaria
Sphaeronaemella
Sporormia
Sporormiella
Zygopleurage

in that order, though just about any and every means of differentiating between them depends upon either perithecia arrangement/orientation or microcharacters.

Lucky for us, all but pg. 45 is viewable on google books.

Do you have access to a microscope?

No buried wood, the dung was right above the soil. I can try to take another better shot in a moment.

was there any buried wood beneath the dung? is it possible to get stable, sharp pictures at life-size?
