These had viscid caps up to 8.7 cm across. The cap flesh was violet tinged.
Spores were ~ 10.3-11.4 X 6.1-7.0 microns.
KOH on the cap was reddish and became darker red with time.
KOH on the stem was slightly yellow as it was also on the cap and stem flesh.
The habitat was mixed conifers.
The Arora keys seem to lead to Cortinarius largus or something similar.
