I forgot that A. tuza is in section Caesareae. This collection is definitely section Vaginatae. I did find a couple of collections of white Caesareae. I tried to save them and was probably successful, though I won’t be able to get to those specimens until next year. I’ll upload the pics soon.

I don’t see any sign of a partial veil in the last photograph…

A. tuza should have a persistent, membranous annulus. Did you see any indication of one? Also, it is supposedly characterized by always having one or more thick patches on the cap…

This posting lit a small fire under me. I’m working on posting my 1994 type study of A. tuza on WAO:


The type study is only 17 years old, but I would have been more thorough with the lamella anatomy if I were doing it today.
