When we summed up a polypore project 1996, there were 3136 obses of Fomitopsis pinicola:
78% on spruce, 8% on birch, 6% on alder, 6% on pine, 1% on aspen, 1% on beech.
Other hosts were Abies, Ulmus, Prunus, Malus, Fraxinus, Carpinus, Quercus, Crataegus, Corylus, Larix, Salix, Sorbus, Aesculus, Acer… :-)

It looks like it but it’s growing on a dead white birch. Is that possible with F. pinicola?
