Observation 85: Scleroderma citrinum Pers.
When: 2004-07-21
Collection location: Mashpee, Massachusetts, USA [Click for map]
No specimen available
Notes:
Keyed out in Mushrooms Demystified. I’m confident this is a young Scleroderma. I’m not completely confident of the species and I don’t have the specimen to look at the spores. Of course this specimen is so young the gleba is still almost completely white, so I doubt it had any mature spores. I’ve applied the name S. citrinum based on the ‘embossed’ look of the scales on the cap as described in Mushrooms Demystified.
