Substrate and habitat: Growing on an exposed boulder on a steep, mossy bank a few meters above the shore of Maligne Lake, in wet spruce-fir forest.

Acarospora glaucocarpa is reported on riverside rocks at the Jonas Rock Slide, Sunwapta River Valley, Jasper National Park (John, 1989, p.108).
