Two collectionw were made on hardwood. Microscopic examination confirmed Dacrymyces. Since field guides say that D. palmatus occurs on conifer wood I searched for an appropriate species. Then the Kennedy article mentioned several collections of D. palmatus occurring on hardwood in the Baton Rouge La. area.as well as the more normal conifer collections.
