Although in its early stages I have a key which can be accessed from low down on the home page of our group. http://www.myfg.org.uk/

Thank you for your suggestions

I will ask Oluna to have a look at this.
The voucher for this MO observation is already in the UBC herbarium (UBC F28393).
Royal Roads University forest is our favourite site and we have usually more than one Geoglossum species there.
Thank you for pointing this problem to us and also for not crossing out our MO observation name right away.

Cf. paraphyses:

The paraphyses of G simile are not swollen at the top. The stem of G glabrum should be smooth and this one shows a roughened surface. G glutinosum should have a sticky surface or shiny when dried out. I would look at G cookeanum.
Have you any measurements of the spores?

seem wrong, more like glabrum or glutinosum
