Observation 87485: Cortinarius subgenus Phlegmacium (Fr.) Fr.

When: 2011-10-16

Collection location: Yosemite National Park, California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dimitar Bojantchev (dimitar)

Specimen available

This heavy veiled, semi-secotioid, semi- hypogeous calochroid phlegm was a particularly nice surprise. There are no other collections in the public databases and it is not the common ones. I will have to read carefully through the existing literature on secotioid corts to see if it is one of them, but I believe not. This one is a close relative of Cortinarius babrbarorum.
