Observation 888: Daedaleopsis confragosa var. tricolor (Bull.) Bondartsev & Singer

When: 2006-10-16

Collection location: Wolchulsan National Park, South Korea [Click for map]

Who: Nathan Wilson (nathan)

No specimen available

When I first saw this I thought this was a dark colored Turkey Tail and was telling the people I was with about that species. However, when I found it again later, I picked a piece only to discover dark gills underneath.

Darvin suggested Daedaleopsis tricolor and based on the images I found on the web, it looks like a good match.
