brown, paler at the margin. My usual references from British islands are well documented on these species. Thanks, Jason.

I agree with P. subrudecta, but be on the look-out for ones with black lower surface – British Flora includes P. reddenda (C-) and P. borreri (C+) – and P. jeckeri (faintly pruinose tips/margins and mith many/mostly marginal soralia).
