Observation 97672: Microglossum viride (Schrad.) Gillet

When: 2012-06-09

Collection location: Ken Lockwood Gorge WMA, High Bridge, New Jersey, USA [Click for map]

Who: Linas Kudzma (baravykas)

Specimen available

To me this fungus looks like Microglossum viride in Roger Phillip’s web reference. However, my spores are “boat shaped” with 4-5 large oil droplets and rarely longer than ~10 µm, while the Philips referece states: “cylindric to fusiform containing large oil drops, 15–20 x 5–6µ.” A dried specimen is retained in my personal herbarium as LVK12035.

My first post and I did not realize how small these images are. Larger are available.
