You cannot determine Russulae

with Courtecuisse or Bon. You do need special literature. But I see. In the beginning we all were thinking it is that easy. It is a long way to the top. But you are on the right way I guess.

Courtecuisse says max 10cm for torulosa.
However, Bon says 10-15cm. As the cap size was 15cm, this is in the upper range of Bon and by far more than the queletii or fusco* range.
Bon also mentions sandy grounds, which was the case at that location.

This all point to it being torulosa.

Queletii : does not fit cap size and also not cap color when older.
Fuscorubra : according to Courtecuisse, the specie is not present in Germany

R. torulosa is a southern species growing exclusively with pines. This group is very difficult to discern. Do also consider R. queletii with spruce and R. fuscorubra and fuscorubroides. They are even more rare. But here a final ID can only be obtained via microscope or with someone with huge experience.
