Observed at the Oregon Mycological Society’s 2002 Fall Mushroom Show, Portland, Multnomah Co., OR. The name Russula rosacea has been deprecated to R. sanguinea.

Based on a quick look at Mushroom Observer, I notice a wide range in how red the stipe of R. sanguinea apparently can be. It may be slightly rose or pink tinted, and ranged up to nearly pure rose red. Are there known varieties within this species? Inquiring minds want to know.
